IC is proud of its ongoing collaborations with the Community Arts Partnership (CAP), fostering creativity and introducing locals to new and emerging artistic voices. Thanks to this partnership, students, faculty, and community members come together to explore, create, and share artistic experiences that enrich the Ithaca community. Twice a year, IC’s art students create and install solo or group exhibitions in the shared gallery space. These young artists gain the experience of preparing their work for public premieres, and community members are the first to engage with these exciting young talents.
Since 2018, IC has sponsored CAP’s Spring Writes program, an annual celebration of local writers and the literary arts that brings together authors, poets, and storytellers to share their work, offer workshops, and inspire creativity throughout the region. In 2019, CAP honored IC with its Friend of the Arts Award, recognizing the college’s longstanding support of the arts throughout Tompkins County and marking the first time an organization was chosen to receive the prestigious award.
